Is there any teacher better than Mother Nature? Nature is the best open book of Wisdom. We learn every day how she does so much without doing, without rushing to accomplish and lay any credit for her incredible creativity. She teaches us with so much patience from within and without! As we keenly observe her play in the examples below, we come to see her blueprint for living a soulful life.
When we learn to pause,
Just watch the ocean. The waves come and go. In between each wave is a pause. Watch your breath. You inhale, you pause; you exhale, you pause. Even the tiger first pauses and waits for the precise moment to jump. If we are unaware of the flow of Mother Nature, if we live outside of her divine rhythm, we fail to open ourselves to her ability to create harmony in the material plane. Without the power of pause, we cannot help but inadvertently create misery for others and ourselves.
and accept that our struggles make us strong,
Our greatest obstacles and pains are Nature’s way to prepare us for our greatest good. A little baby bird tries with all its might to free itself from its shell, and sometimes makes a long struggle. This struggle, although difficult for a human to watch without helping, is absolutely necessary for the young bird’s physical health and future growth! Like the baby bird, every struggle we go through is only to strengthen our wings so that we can achieve the purpose for which the Higher Intelligence has brought us to this earthly plane of consciousness.
we can soar like an eagle,
We learn to soar high when we watch eagles flying. When they fly at a lower level, they flutter their wings, and we see a lot of effort and power, and less grace, but when they gradually circle around and soar high in space and there is no more movement of the wings, the eagle flies without flapping, moves without moving… That is grace! Just as a bird cannot fly with one wing, so also we cannot attain material success or spiritual illumination with only efforts. Our efforts are one wing. It is grace that ultimately makes everything possible. Grace is the second wing. When our deepest yearning for Truth and our sincere efforts meet with grace then the miracle happens. We can fly, initially by fluttering our wings like a low flying eagle, and then effortlessly when we soar high, gliding but not fluttering our wings. All our efforts and hard work are while we have our ego. When grace dissolves our ego, then we soar to our effortless natural Self.
and flow like a river,
Life does not twist and turn but flows like a river. It is the mind of man that perceives life as turns and twists. If we can develop a very powerful vision of life that will flow like water through the bumpy rides and keep our inner calm, like water in the river making its way through all hurdles and boulders toward the ocean, we learn to flow and move on. When the river merges into the ocean it is no longer a river, it is the vast ocean. When we merge into Life we are no longer fighting for existence, we are on the Flow……Life is a flow, flow of life!
and bear sweet fruits in divine time.
Do we ever plant a seed and see it bear fruit on the same day? No. Yet when we do good works we expect a reward right away. There are days when we are suddenly stuck with some difficult situation. We say to ourselves is this the reward of being faithful, honest, humble, loving, friendly and god loving? We mostly forget one thing; that none of us have ever seen seeds being sown in the ground and flowers and fruits coming right away! For every good act that we do, it takes its own time to bear fruits. They may not bear fruits right away, as no seed ever germinates into plant, tree, flowers, and fruits by itself. It is only when the seed falls on fertile ground, and with air, sun, and rain, that fragrant flowers grow! None of our good deeds and thoughts goes in vain, but it is all in divine time.
Yes, Mother Nature keeps writing this human drama, this universal drama of creation, preservation, and annihilation. From the seed comes the tree, and from the tree comes the seed of the future. This is the play of the Mother Nature with her children, the play of consciousness, the Divine Dance of Life.
