One of the trips that I will never forget, is my trip last summer to Jamaica. I went there having no expectations because I wanted to be surprised. It was a very special trip for me as I was in my last months of pregnancy. My husband and I wanted to enjoy our summer break in a very unique and special way preparing ourselves to welcome our New Baby!
And what I will always remember about this place, is the hospitality of the people. Anywhere we’ve been to, people were smiling all the time and were singing everywhere. Sending positive vibes around them, the nature was mind blowing!
Furthermore, walking through the island on the white sand next to very large green trees with the summer breeze had a unique sensation that I am experiencing again while I am writing this article!
We had a very warm welcome in this luxurious resort. Probably, one of the warmest! And we knew at that time, that our stay will definitely be memorable as we had a beautiful view on the beach and that was exactly in harmony with my wishes.
First, we were going to rent a spot with the resort in order to visit around. But then, my husband had an idea that I was not totally excited about in the beginning. Hence, I ended up not regretting following his advice. Rather, He suggested to hire a local, and it was a very authentic experience, visiting Jamaica as a Local!
Ricks Café – Jamaica
We started our journey by going to Ricks Café, where it was so fun and refreshing. Some people were doing cliff jumping! It was fun watching, as I couldn’t do the same: I was pregnant! During sunset, we witnessed the most beautiful view ever! I still cannot get over it every time I check my pictures.
That is one of Jamaica’s national treasures. And I was very happy to go with a local person, because he took us through some roads that we would have never seen if we went with a tourist agency.
Finally, My husband and I did not want to eat in restaurants that we can try in our daily life, since we really wanted to try something different, yet an authentic experience!
So, our local guide took us to try goat soup, grilled lobster, great and yummy local recipes.
My personal highlight was Chi-Chi; a very special drink, normally it has rum in it, but as I was pregnant, I had it alcohol free! Yet, it was a perfect summer drink!
