Education is power. It brings prestige and recognition, and easily opens many doors. However, beyond intelligence and education is an entity that is more powerful and more meaningful: upbringing. Being well mannered and having the sense of respect and ethics are the key to a proper and respectable life.
Upbringing is directly related to the culture and to family. A family with good foundations and a high sense of union is a family that produces respectable offspring’s. Any project or idea based on a solid background is meant to be, and will be successful, no matter how hard and strenuous the trajectory to the output might be. And so is the case of children and family.
But a family, and a good background, is associated with the love and respect given by the source of the family and the source of love. The mother.
The mother is in fact the source and the basis of a good upbringing. She is the one that settles the rules and the morals in the family. A mother with a good mindset is capable of raising leaders. Even in the smallest ways. A mother who respects her husband and who is loyal to him will always have him by her side. This applies to divorced couples as well. A man will always respect the mother of his children and she will always have a very special place in his life. And if his children are very well put-together and respectable, he will cherish and admire her even more. One should not underestimate a woman who is silent and who is not complaining. Not complaining and keeping integrity is the quality of the classiest ladies on earth. The truth is, no one will solve a woman’s issues but herself. She and only she has the power of changing situations and turning them to her own advantage. And most of the times, by keeping her integrity and the image of her relationship and family, she is saving her future and making her best to protect her love for her soulmate and children.
My grandmother, mama hbiba, taught me that beauty and elegance are very important. She is probably the classiest woman I have ever met. She used to put gold clips on her hair, black khol in her eyes and I almost never saw her without a gold belt and earrings at home. She did not need makeup. Her auburn hair, naturally dyed with weekly henna treatments, gave her a very chic allure that completed her strong personality. But according to mama hbiba, beauty without intelligence, integrity and faith means nothing to family, and to society. A man who treats his better half like a princess is the proof he was raised by a queen. And a woman who treats her better half like a king is the proof she will raise a king.
Before Al karawiyine in Fes and before Oxford Uni, mothers were the only source of education and ethics. Mothers build nations, they build love and they build a strong marriage.
