The editor in chief of Vogue Italy since 1988 ; Franca Sozzani passed away in Milan on Thursday at age 66 after being ill for over a year.
Franca was very active on the social media; not only was she running a blog on the Italian version of Vogue, but she was also very active on social media, Twitter to be more specific. Until June 2016.Sozzani helped creating the phenomenon supermodel in the 90s. She was also active in social issues; She is the co-founder of Child Priority that is helping giving opportunities to underprivileged kids, and she was the creative director of an AIDS initiative named Convivio.
The issue her magazine will always remember is “The Black issue” for celebrating black women’s beauty. She won many prizes for her famous art and culture contributions such as La Lupa and the Premiolino. She became a UN Goodwill ambassador in 2012.
Except being an editor in chief, she was also an author of different books among which; Valentino’s red book and A noir which explores the black color between fashion and art.
The fashion world lost the easily recognized blond Franca Sozzani , she may be gone , but she will definitely never be forgotten as she left remarkable footprints in the fashion era.
