Healthy Life – How to get there
Healthy Life? We all know that life requires us to embrace all of its ups and downs, and that by doing so we deepen ourselves as we become wiser and more seasoned with experience. The question always is how to retain one’s balance in the face of the darker moments so that they do not overwhelm us.
Our Inner Passion
I believe that one of the greatest tools for leading a healthy, happy life is to discover and nurture our inner passion, and I truly believe that everybody has one. Whether it is cooking, playing tennis, running a business, painting, plumbing or anything in between, feeling passionate about something is a central key to keeping us balanced and on course.
Finding your passion is not always easy. For some it is something we’re born with, for others it takes exploration. But inside of each of us is a spark that lights up in the face of a specific thing, and it is up to us to find that thing and nurture it into a flame.
The Need for Discernment
Leading a happy, healthy life also requires discernment. Leading the kind of life that brings the greatest reward includes surrounding ourselves with people who support us emotionally, inspire us, and embrace us for who we are as individuals, without asking us to change our essence. A healthy life requires a positive environment that includes choices that compliment our character, personality, and talents.
The Chance to Fly
It’s not always easy to make the choices that lead us to the best result. There is a lot of trial and error in living, isn’t there! But when we put ourselves on the path towards emotional balance, we start to become aligned with our desires. As we seek this balance, we begin to feel better in body, mind, and spirit. And when these three aspects are aligned, we feel free to be ourselves and have the chance to fly.
Body Language Speaks
As a dance and fitness teacher, it is easy for me to detect when a person is not aligned with their internal flame. Body language speaks quite loudly when it comes to seeing how we feel about ourselves. The way we stand, sit, and move reveals so much about our psyche. When there is misalignment in the body, it is generally the result of tension and stress… Which puts us out of balance. It can also be a compensation for a deeper issue that lodges its way into the body as a whole. Also, affecting the health of our entire physical, mental, and emotional structure.
Not Becoming Comfortable with Discomfort
Many people are so used to their discomfort that they can no longer identify it as something undesirable.
For some it is hard to remember what it feels like to be natural and free. But we must never become comfortable with being uncomfortable!
Somewhere inside, you will always know when you are not following your passion, when you are overly stressed, when you are not appreciated, when you are not feeling natural.
When these sensations come up, its time to pay attention to aligning the body, mind, and soul with a conscious exercise and meditation class. Finding natural ways to move and think open us up again to creative ideas and bring us closer to our passion.
When the Wind Gets Cold and the Night Gets Dark
By seeking a self-sufficient life that includes something you feel passionate about, supportive friends, good food, and a non-judgmental environment is certainly my definition of a happy, healthy life, even and especially when the winds get cold and the night is dark.
