Kazi Shams said ”One’s greatest challenge is to control oneself ”
Self-control is a self-improvement project. It is an important characteristic that I learned to develop myself. When it comes to food, socializing, work, stressful or any other situation, practicing Self-control helps you have a wise reaction instead of getting angry at the moment and do or say things you probably will regret later on.
Start by meditating, Take five minutes every day, and do not focus on anything but your senses and breathing, this will allow you resist destructive thoughts and improve your self-awareness.
Know your weaknesses, and be clear about what you are trying to control, having too many distractions will just get you lost in your thoughts and take you away from where the problem really is.
This advice may sound a little bit crazy, but it’s crazy how effective it is; Self-Talk, When you talk out loud to yourself, it makes your goals more real and more serious, hence you’ll be more eager to reach your self-control level.
Sleep; when you are tired, your brain cells’ ability to absorb glucose is highly diminished.
Most important step is to be patient. It takes time to increase your emotional intelligence, but remember that the new habits you form with effort can last a lifetime.
