Many big brands are spending lots of money in an attempt to convince you that you are choosing the most nourishing and effective balms to take care of your lips. But you know what? It’s not true!
Most of these lipsticks and lip balms are made from petroleum chemicals. Scary, right? Imagine that when you are putting these products on your lips you are actually applying chemicals directly onto your face.
So here is a simple, all-natural alternative that you can try:
5 grams of beeswax
5 grams of cacao butter
5 grams of castor oil or almond oil
2 drops of vitamin E
First, it is necessary to clean your bowl and utensils with 70% rubbing alcohol, to kill any bacteria. I also recommend that you use gloves and clean the surface with alcohol, as well.
Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and heat them in a Bain-marie until the temperature reaches 45°C.
After, gently put the treatment into an empty lipstick tube or small jar (also cleaned with 70% rubbing alcohol).
And here you are, your own lipstick, free of chemicals. I’m certain you will notice the difference.
Quick tip: You can substitute the cacao butter with other ingredients such as shea butter, mango butter, avocado butter, etc.
You can also substitute the castor/almond oil.
To color the lipstick, use Crayola pencil colors, which are free from chemicals. Cut a small portion and add to the mix before heating to create your own custom lipstick color. The possibilities are endless!
