I flew in from Paris to Miami on a cold December day to join my friends at a wedding. My stay was literally a 48 hour break in Miami.
My decision to be there was challenged by my very busy schedule. Between the launch of “Appartement Mayshad”, editorial meetings for the Mag and financial planning, it gets quite stressful. The usual pressure all companies face at the beginning of an upcoming year.
Even though it can get quite challenging, three night breaks in warm weather is definitely worth it. I essentially felt moved to be welcomed and happy to be able to attend the wedding.
My Arrival to Miami
My flight arrived early on a Friday evening. I then rushed immediately to the Mandarin Oriental in Brickell. As soon as I reached the hotel, there was a warm bath waiting for me to jump right in and get rid of my jet lag. I also enjoyed the beautiful view as it never ceases to disappoint me. It displays a wide range of downtown Miami with its breathtaking high waterfront rise.
I suddenly started to feel hungry, so I decided to order poached eggs, sliced tomatoes and some avocados. After eating my meal, I laid down for a 10minute rest to regain my energy.
Actually, I still couldn’t believe the warm weather I was in compared to Paris and in December!
I then jumped into my long dress and started getting ready. Mainly because I had to join the rest of the guests who were having a seated dinner at Nobu.
I could always manage having long flight trips and maintaining my good mood to join a party. Whereas what I could not manage at that moment is a seated dinner. Due to fatigue I accumulated on my trip, I would have literally fallen asleep while talking to my table mates.
Experience: During My Stay
The Style Luxury and Service (SLS) Hotel was right next door from the Delano. Therefore, the after party was supposed to take place in their night club. I usually like to end my evenings before everyone likes to out to night clubs. However, seen as it was a special occasion, I decided to let my curiosity get the best of me. It was also an opportunity discover as many new places as possible.
Next morning I went down to the hotel’s beach and just laid down in the sun for the day. It was calm, and the service was great.
I was in such a peaceful environment, yet my mind couldn’t stop thinking of work. Then I thought that the wisest thing to do in order to rest was merely to take a deep breath. I calmed my thoughts with some instrumental music, a conscious meditation of gratefulness and connecting to the nature around me.
In the end it worked perfectly and by 4pm I went back up to my room to watch a movie.
I scheduled a manicure, a pedicure and a blow dry session for 7pm in a hair salon on Brickel avenue. A truly delightful experience!
Celina took great care of my washed and blow dried hair. If I could to take her back to Paris with me, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate! I also learned that the salon stays open 7 days a week from 8 am to 11pm. The reason I stated this is because I admire and respect people who work seriously and continuously.
Feels Like a Holiday
That very same night, I recall I had the best pecking duck in town. The restaurant even had great music and a good crowd.
Next morning, my thoughts were much calmer and my head was at rest compared to the previous day. Hence, I decided to spend my day on the hotel beach. It was official, I finally felt like I was on holiday!
I had a chance to explore my hobbies. Reading, resting, tanning and enjoying. It was all in my day’s menu. It was not until 3 pm that I had a scheduled hair appointment, so I had enough time. Then, after my hair appointment, I could head to the fabulous wedding I was invited to.
