The vivid colors and bold designs of Aida Muluneh’s photographs are catching the eyes of contemporary art
fans worldwide. Born in Ethiopia, she spent much of her childhood traveling before studying at film, radio,
and television at Howard University. Upon graduation, she worked for the Washington Post before
returning to her home in Ethiopia nine years ago.
Muluneh says that her bright and bold patterns in her art come from her naturally aggressive personality.
She loves the passion she can include in her artwork. Muluneh portrays provocative questions in her

She has founded the Developing and Educating Society Through Art (DESTA) organization, which works to
with cultural development through educational programs, workshops, and exhibitions.
